We were honored to be chosen to design a room for the 2023 Richmond Symphony League Designer House, an Italian Renaissance Revival home built in 1915 and designed by renowned architect Duncan Lee. Our room, the Den, is full of remarkable Tudor-style architectural details—richly stained oak wall paneling, a plaster relief barrel vault ceiling, jib doors, and a monumental gothic fireplace. We followed these visual cues in conceiving a space ideal for unplugged family gatherings that honors the original character and warmth of the room. A vintage English Knole sofa reimagined in a whimsical pattern set forth a dynamic palette that we carried through in custom wool draperies, cinnamon linen club chairs, a collection of antique boxes, a vintage Moroccan rug, and a collection of artwork that enlivens and enriches the space.
